Tokyo Dining offers traditional Japanese cuisine and ingredients with “innovative” presentations and I would strongly recommend that you make advance reservations for this restaurant.
Friends of ours, who love Japanese food, on our recommendation visited here after its recent renovation. It had been renovated with the décor being beautifully done in a modern setting. It was ultra-modern complete with colour changing lighting and HD screens displaying photos of Japan. The sushi bar took centre stage, with the chefs preparing right in front of them
From the moment they walked in they were greeted by sincere Japanese cast members and their endless bowing added to the authenticity of the restaurant. They arrived about ten minutes before their booking was due but were immediately greeted by a cast member who advised them that their booking would be ready in ten minutes and exactly at the appointed time they were shown to their table.
They were very fortunate as they had requested and were given a window seat so they had a great view of the Illuminations and across the lake. They said their server was polite, professional, and gave the impression of being very authentic Japanese. They suggested that if you dine at a time that the Illuminations are not on it would be better to request a seat near the Sushi Bar where you can watch the chefs prepare the food.
The menu combines traditional food culture dating back to the Edo period with the spirit of modern Tokyo. Entrees include sushi and sashimi, steak, chicken, and shrimp, as well as beverages such as hot sake, green tea and Kirin beer. They said if you like sushi, this is a great place and if you have never had it this is where you should try it.
When they went one of them had the tempura and sushi combo whilst her sister had the tempura and sashimi combo. They were delighted when their meals came as they were perfect. The tempura was battered and fried extremely well and the dipping sauce was delicious. They both had a couple of shrimps, some scallops, and a variety of vegetables. Apparently the sushi was rolled expertly and the sashimi slices were the largest they had ever seen.
Their Mother was with them and she opted for Breaded Seafood Combination this comprised sushi-grade salmon, shrimp and white fish with Japanese tartar sauce. She also ordered a Seaweed Salad which was mixed greens topped with two types of seaweed salad but opted not to have a dressing on this. They all shared a bottle of wine which they said was very good.
They did not have any room for dessert instead settled back to watch the Illuminations.
I am pleased we had recommended this restaurant to them as they said they would definitely go there again.
