Lowe’s Tool Heaven
Well I have done a lot of shopping in Florida now having been travelling there for over 10 years and recently as a villa owner, previously I was blown away by the sheer size of Home Depot but with a new Lowe’s store being built close to our villa all that was about to change
Whilst on vacation a number of repairs and upgrades to the villa were required as a highly capable DIYer and with some building experience my wife decided or should that be suggested that I do some of the repairs and upgrades to our villa
Monday morning arrived and we set off the short distance to the Lowes homeware store that is conveniently located close to Wal-Mart on HWY 27, someone clearly did their homework there!
The store looked huge from the outside and lined up outside were a long line of ride on mowers that anyone with a large garden in the UK would kill for, lots of John Deere tractors at unbelievably cheap prices compared to the UK , nothing new there then I here you say! Once inside it was huge this is no doctor Who’s Tardis this is the real deal, as I said earlier previously I had been a Home Depot convert but now I was blown away by the sheer size and amount of stock that was available making our stores back home look pitiful
First on the agenda were some ceiling fans and oh my did they have a great choice! ! ! Being from the UK we were not sure which type we needed but within a few short minutes help was on hand. The assistant was extremely helpful and spent about 30 minutes explaining the different types and how the mounted etc, close to ceiling fans were what we needed and the assistant pointed out which ones were suitable and even helped us find them on the shelves.
With the fan chosen next we had to buy the light bulbs and once again there is a huge array of bulbs available but hey presto the assistant magically appeared to discuss at length the advantages of low energy bulbs versus standard type this was my cue to wander off on my own
It’s well known at home that I have a bit of a tool fetish and now I was in heaven! There was a tool for everything and I often had to stop myself repeating to my son if only we had these in the UK. He was in complete agreement as someone who was going in the building industry shortly after leaving school he too was amazed at the range of tools and particularly the tools boxes and locker boxes for the trucks
More than once we both wondered how much luggage we could take back in our suitcases! But our excitement was soon over when my wife appeared with light bulbs and this was the end to our excursion into tool heaven. My son said to me we will probably have to come tomorrow for something or other! And I excitedly agreed now another visit to too heaven was only a day away
This store has its Disney attractions of its own to grown up men!
