Mama Melroses - Hollywood Studios
We decided, long before our holiday, to book the Fantasmic package and dine at Mama Melrose’s . We booked some months in advance direct with Disney. I believe this can be booked up to 180 days in advance.
On the advice of friends we booked an early dinner at 4. 30pm allowing plenty of time to relax and enjoy our meal before strolling over to the Fantasmic theatre to view the show from our reserved seating area. That evening’s show was at 7. 30pm. I was pleased we had decided to go so early because by the time we left, about 6pm, the waiting area was completely full and guests were getting irate with Cast Members about not having enough time to eat before they had to be at Fantasmic. I would suggest you never book a table after 5 pm if you want to see the 7. 30 show.
We had a great waiter who was constantly watching all the tables he was serving and was always there with drinks. He sat and talked with us took our photos and answered many questions.
The girls were allowed to autograph the wall as is customary he told us in this type of New York restaurant. Having never been to New York I do not know if this is true.
I and one of the girls had Artisan Breads and Spreads which were out of this world. We had freshly baked breads served with an arugula and chive pesto, sun-dried tomato, roasted vegetable and roasted garlic spreads. I can taste it now!
My parents both had fresh tomatoes and mozzarella, this came with marinated sweet onions, balsamic drizzle, extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil. They said it was much better than one they had previously had in Magic Kingdom.
Our younger girl chose from her own menu which we all thought was very comprehensive. She opted for an appetizer of Minestrone Soup, Chicken Strips with Macaroni served with vegetables as an entrée, followed by fruit salad for dessert. . . This must have been good because there was none left!
My Father chose Spicy Italian Sausage which was served with rigatoni pasta, peppers, onions, and a tomato basil sauce topped with cheese. He thoroughly enjoyed it but said the sausage could have been spicier.
The rest of us had Wood Grilled Shrimp with Pipette pasta and artichokes, peas, roasted red peppers in basil and four cheese cream sauce, it was fantastic but very filling, Dad had to help us finish it!
We had three different desserts and shared them between us. These were Warm Chocolate Truffle Cake, Tiramisu and Honey Hazelnut and Ricotta Cheesecake. We could hardly move afterwards.
At the end of the meal the waiter gave us our Fantasmic voucher and explained the procedure for its use thoroughly. A gratuity is included in your bill but we felt we had had a good meal such excellent service so we left a little extra.
We would return but make sure we had an early reservation.
