Mardi Gras at Universal.
Well folks, it is Mardi Gras time again at Universal Studios. Every year this is the most anticipated event and for 2002, they seem to have topped even themselves!
The 2012 concert line up has such names as Kelly Clarkson (who is currently in the UK charts) and Diana Ross. More details on the acts and dates later.
The parade is always a major part of Mardi Gras and this year 12 floats are featured. These are themed from King and Queen to Rain Forest to Gator (well, come on, it is Florida! )And this is the time to catch some of the free beads they toss out
In addition to the colourful floats there are stilt walkers, street entertainers and whirling dancers.
The procession will wend it' s way right round the parks and there is even a little kids viewing area (what a good idea) This is located right next to the Terminator 2 ride.
And whie we are talking about the little ones take care to visit Kidzone Mardi Pardi Krewe. This is a charachter filled, live show with lots of opportunities to catch yet more beads.
You will find this attraction in the Woody Woodpecker Kidzone and the showings are at 11 a. m. , 12 p. m. , 1 p. m. , 3 p. m. , 4 p. m. and 5 p. m.
Now to the French Quarter where there will be genuine New Orleans music and lots of Creole food. Think Shrimp Gumbo and Jambalaya. Yum!
You need to check your dates very carefully before you set out. Here are the concert dates:

March 10th Big Time Rush

March 17th Sugar Ray
March 23rd Hot Chelle Rae

April 7th Cyndi Lauper
April 14th K. C. and the Sunshine Band
And then mid way through april it will all be over til another year.
Of course you can carry on the Mardi Gras fun at Universal City Walk.
You will get free entry to any one of the 7 clubs including Pat O Brians which is modelled on a New Orleans club. Inside is a piano bar where you can sing your heart out and a flaming fountain.
The strap line for this event is Catch the beads: Catch the Music: Catch Spirit and I think that sums it up pretty well, don' t you?
