Florida Guide > Other Florida
This really is a superb time to visit Universal Studios; it’s fun, fun, fun all the way which it usually is anyway, one of mine and my families favourite parks and more so at this time of year, Easter.
Apart from all of the fantastic daytime rides and general excitement, night time becomes another thing, with many live bands and nightly appearances of some of the biggest names in entertainment, it really is a fabulous, fantastic time to visit Florida, and probably our favourite time of year there, the weather is perfect and so is the abundance of superb entertainment.
Picture the scene, the night is balmy and you wonder down to perhaps have a leisurely meal at the Hard Rock café, take a stroll in to Islands of Adventure for the kids, and then, around 7. 30pm to 8pm go in to the main Universal park.
Watch the acts, enjoy some of the rides, Men in Black, The Mummy, Jaws, or go and watch Shrek, alternatively, just sit in Mel’s diner with a burger and Coke and watch the world go by, it doesn’t get much better than this, but, be careful not to sit for too long because you will need to grab a decent place for when the parade starts.
The first that you will hear is the Police sirens, two or three Police motorcyclists’ head up the parade and they go forward some way and then double back to pick the lead of the parade up again, shaking the hands of the on lookers and doing high fives with the kids, closely followed by the main parade itself, which could take 30 minutes to pass. The kids are excited, and so are the parents as the parade passes by in all its glory. The occupants of the trailers showering those who shout the loudest with commemorative coins and beads, stilt walkers, unicyclists, clowns and people in all sorts of fabulous costumes parade by.
Street sellers selling all types of electronic wizardry and kids running round with flashing ears, heads and mouths from the items bought from the street sellers, a toy that you swing around spells out a message as it turns and the parents enjoy a quick drink from one of the many bars or street booths, and then, a leisurely drive back to that little treasure that is your villa, a dip in the pool and a Bud for a nightcap.
This is the life and it really makes all of the hard work that goes with villa ownership worthwhile.
