Market Street Cafe - Celebration
Our family are huge fans of the Market Street Cafe
. It is one of our favourite restaurants and an absolute "must" on any visit to Orlando. We have eaten there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have never come away disappointed.
The decor is reminiscent of a 50s style diner and it has a welcoming family-friendly atmosphere. You can choose to sit outside at a table on the sidewalk and watch the world go by (just keep an eye out for the birds as they will steal from your plate!), or opt for a booth or table inside, or even better still, you can sit up at the counter and watch the food being prepared in front of you. I think that this is done deliberately as once you have seen the delicious desserts and huge sundaes to share, you will not be able to resist!
The service is always good. Children are made to feel welcome and, on arrival, are given crayons and a large activity sheet with puzzles and quizes, as well as their own special Kids Menu, on it. A drink from the soda fountain is included with every kid's meal.
The breakfast menu, while not huge, has more than enough to choose from. Be aware - the portions are big. My other half struggled to finish one of the filled omelettes for brunch and did not need to eat again until the evening!
The lunch and dinner menu are extensive and choices range from home-style meatloaf to traditional turkey dinners, homemade soups and chowders, different styles of burgers, huge deli sandwiches and much more. All the food is prepared fresh on a daily basis. The restaurant itself calls its menu - "a collection of American classics just like Mom used to make...only better!"
The desserts - including homemade pies and cobblers and huge mouth-watering ice cream sundaes - are fantastic! Somehow we always
manage to find just enough room to finish off our meal with one of these!
The menu prices are probably on the high side of average but as far as our family are concerned they are worth every cent. Menu items range in price from $4.00 to $15.00 depending on what you choose.
Note: If the restaurant is busy, you will be given what can only be described as a large coaster that will buzz when a table becomes available. This means that you don't have to wait around but instead can take a wander up Market Street to look at the shops or stroll down to the side of the lake to while away a bit of time in one of the wooden rocking chairs.
