Mickeys 'Not so scary Halloween'- Magic Kingdom

Around Oct time each Year Mickey Mouse throws a large Not-so-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom. For an extra admission fee (not covered by your Hopper pass) you can go into Magic Kingdom at night and ride the rides, meet Mickey and his friends and then watch the Boo to you Halloween parade.
At first I must say I was very sceptical and thought it would be a waste of money, however I could not have been further from the truth. One thing Disney does better than any park is they fully immerse everyone in the theme and walking around the park at night you do get a much different experience than going during the day. All staff are dressed in Halloween fancy dress and almost everywhere you look children are carrying buckets of sweets and candy!

All the rides are open extra late on Halloween nights and we found the queues very short indeed. This is ideal if you don’t want to go when the queues are very big (during break time). Most of the rides or attractions you can get straight onto.

But as most people are there for the Halloween activities, the parade and fireworks show (Happy Hallow Wishes) being the main attractions. The fireworks show really is something special and will keep the younger ones entertained as their favourite characters go trick or treating in the sky above them. The show lasts for around 20 minutes and is really very good. Unlike the crowds you can get during the nightly fireworks shows it felt during the Halloween shows there were generally less people. Possibly this being the fact you have to pay extra entry fees to go back in.

We have a 4 Year old and must say this event was suited perfectly for him. All places he went to offered treats and you did not have to go far before your bucket was brimming with sweets. The only problem was carrying it all back to the car!

If you are on vacation in Oct this is well worth a look and certainly something you should consider. Yes you have to pay, but this in my view makes the park less busy and actually enhances the experience making it a little more personal. Get your children to dress up and they will love it. The fireworks show is well worth the wait too. The only thing about going is it is a long day and your little ones might not be up early the next day! ! ! ! !
