Mimi’s Cafe - so good!
We had been looking for somewhere different to eat and then someone recommended Mimi’s Café. Ooo-la-la! How had we not found this place before? ?
It has the added bonus of being very close to the Loop shopping area. So you are safe in the knowledge that when you are completely shopped out, Mimi’s is a great place to kick off your shoes and indulge in some great food.
Situated on West Osceola Parkway, in the same parking area as the large Ashley furniture store, Mimi’s is close to the roadside.
Themed on a French café but with a definitely cosmopolitan menu, it would be very hard not to find something on the menu to satisfy most appetites. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and at busy times it is advisable to call ahead to add you name to the waiting list to ensure that you do not have to wait too long for a table.
So back to the menu. Two egg breakfasts with such as smoked bacon, sausage, ham even Cajun chicken – or just two eggs. On to lunch or dinner with choices of sandwiches, salads, fish, pasts, steak – it goes on and on. Portions can be on the large side so to compensate there is a light bites menu of soups, salads, and small portions on some of the main menu dishes. Try one of the signature meatloaf sandwiches – they are big - very big - but so delicious!
Many of the menu choices include a freshly baked muffin in a choice of flavours – carrot raisin nut being my particular favourite. However I have yet to actually eat one whilst in the café – it has always been brought back to the villa in a bag to be enjoyed later – like the sandwiches, they are huge but very, very good!
The menu is marked with dishes which are called the ‘best of Mimi’s’ Choices such as blue cheese and walnut salad, Cajun blackened salmon and Mimi’s bread and butter pudding. That said, there is nothing that we have tried that hasn’t been cooked to perfection and very well presented. Staff are attentive but not intrusive.
Prices are reasonable with a good proportion of the menu priced at under $10 per item. For children under 12 years old are offered a special menu. There is a full bar service.
If you are looking for a restaurant that offers a very varied choice of food from full meals to a lighter bite, check out Mimi’s.
