Motorsports at Daytona Beach (2)
The Daytona Beach area is a must visit for all motorsport enthusiasts. There are plenty of race parks and speedways including the world famous Daytona International Speedway
which covers 480-acres and is open 10 a. m. - 4 p. m. daily. This is the home to the biggest and richest stock car race, the Daytona 500.
There are three separate tours that take visitors inside the grounds race track. There is a VIP three-hour tour which is only available by advanced reservation on selected days throughout the year. Here you will see the wining car of the Daytona 500 get a chance to buy clothes in the souvenir shop as well as having a meal in the Fourth Turn grill.
You can enjoy the 60-minute All Access tour which allows visitors to see areas including the Daytona 500 Club, the Sprint Tower, the driver' s meeting room as well as the garages. There is also a thirty minute tour but I am not sure what that includes.
The Birthplace of Speed Park commemorates the first car race held on the adjacent beach in 1903. Here you will find a picnic area and restrooms. It is open each day as long as the sun is up and you can take some great photos.
At Go Kart City and Miniature Golf you can race replica stock car-like go-karts. There is also a video game arcade, miniature golf and a driving range. This is open daily but hours vary.
Go to the Living Legends of Auto Racing Museum to see racing' s early days with memorabilia, antique racers and great photographs. This is situated in Sunshine Park Mall and is open Mon to Sat. 10 a. m. - 5 p. m. admission is free.
Eagle Rider specializes in Harley-Davidson, Honda and BMW rentals including trikes and scooters. As well as daily rentals you get guided and self guided tours. You see lots of motor bike fans here.
Speed Park Motorsports complex has a racetrack and karts including rookie karts for drivers under 50 inches tall young boys will love this! If you are brave enough you can have a go in special dragsters that go from 0-75 mph in a few seconds. This is open daily from 10. 00am.
If you are in Daytona on a Saturday night you can go to Volusia Speedway Park for the dirt track racing as well as the oval go-kart racing on clay. The pits and grandstands open at 5 p. m. and racing starts at 7:30 p. m.
Daytona is a great place to go for motorsports enthusiasts.
