Orlando weather (7)

Florida is called the sunshine state because of one reason, it has over 280 days of sunshine per year. Not many holiday destinations in the world can boast this record.

Choosing a time of year to go on holiday can be a hard decision, especially when you have never been there before. Florida has an all year round warm climate so is an ideal place to visit if you are after going in the UK’s colder months. This makes Florida a very popular place in the winter for families and older couples. During the summer months Florida has one of the warmest climates in the whole of the USA.

We have been to Florida (Orlando) five times and at different times of the year, January, July, August, November and May. Each time we have been the weather has been very different, from the hot and humid summers to the warm winters.

During July and August time the weather in Orlando is normally in the late 80’s to high 90’s, this makes it very hot and humid, but ideal if you are after some long sunny days when you are sat by the villa pool. Because of the humidity it can give the odd afternoon shower and this is to be expected. These never last that long and by the end of the day they sky has cleared to give a clear evening. Only on some occasions in the summer does Florida get very bad storm weather, but these normally pass very quickly.

In the winter months the day time temperatures are normally between 70- 80 degrees, this is an ideal temperature to walk round the parks and see the sites, it is warm enough to be able to wear shorts and t-shirts, but not too hot to make you feel uncomfortable. The evenings are a little cooler and on the odd occasion you will need to wear a jumper.

One of the best times to go to Florida is in either, September, November or May. These months see very little rain and are ideal as the temperature is just about right at around 80 degrees. These months have around 6-7 hours of sunshine, so it is an ideal time to work on the tan before you go home.

We would rate the best time to go as September, October or November for the reason the parks are not as busy, flights are cheaper and the weather not so hot and humid. Although to be honest everywhere in Florida has air-conditioning and is great any time of year!
