Pirate Cove Adventure Golf
Ahoy there!! Yo ho me hearties!! Shiver me timbers!! Visit the Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf on International Drive or at Lake Buena Vista for a fun filled activity, in swashbuckling surroundings. It is an excellent way for the whole family to spend an exciting couple of hours together and is great fun for young and old alike. Immerse yourself in the excellent atmosphere as the legends and adventures of 18th century buccaneers are created here with lagoons, shipwrecks, hidden treasures, skulls, planks, cascading waterfalls, lush tropical vegetation, caves and pirate dungeons. As you go round, watch out for stray cannon fire as a skeleton on an old raft attempts to keep you away.
When you arrive, you need to make your way to the ticket office where you will be given your score card, pencil, golf club and your own choice of coloured ball (which makes things much easier when there is a group of you playing). This also has advantages when trying to spot which is your ball resting at the bottom of the river or in one of the many water hazards!!
The layout is very imaginative (in true Disney style) and exciting. There are two beautifully manicured and well-kept 18-hole courses to choose from which run alongside each other – there is Captain Kidd’s Course or the slightly more difficult Blackbeard’s Challenge. You can play just one of the courses, or you can opt for a mammoth session and play them both. Both courses are tricky but enjoyable and the obstacles you encounter as you make your way round become more numerous the further along you go. The two courses work their way round and up to the top of the central hill and on the way up there are several holes where you have to make tricky, long uphill shots, which will challenge even the most experienced ‘golfers’. Some of the holes take you through caves, some go under the crashing waterfall and some take you over bridges. As you tackle the holes there are several notice boards where you can find out lots of information about the characters that the courses are named after, so not only are you having some exercise, you are having a history lesson too!
If you are exhausted, thirsty and starving after your adventure, then you can stop in at the snack bar near the exit and re-fuel. If you still have any energy left, there is always the Games Room to visit and test your skills on electronic games. Don’t forget to pick up some Pirate Cove stickers, plastic doubloons and pirate flags before you go.
