Pleasure Island Downtown Disney
Walt Disney World are taking the Downtown Disney experience to the next level.
They are doing this through enhancements to existing Downtown Disney locations. Extraordinary new shopping, dining and other experiences including a completely re-imagined Pleasure Island, and enhanced theming and story telling brought to life by Disney Imagineers. Much of it is yet to be finished but some already has been, for example the new restaurant, Paradiso 37.
Pleasure Island is in the middle of the Downtown Disney with Market Place on one side and West Side on the other. If you have parked at the Car Park 1 at Downtown Disney you will have already been to Market Place. Leaving Market Place you will walk past Fultons Crab House and be entering Pleasure Island.
The first you will see as you leave Market Place and head to Pleasure Island is the Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant and Fish & Chip bar. Do stop if you have not already had lunch at one of the many restaurants in Market Place, the fish & chips are just wonderful and very authentic British. If it is near dinner time you may like to try the Raglan Road restaurant for typical Irish fare plus, of course, a Guinness or two.
Past here there are, at the moment, a lot of hoardings up because of the redevelopment, but this will not spoil the experience for you. What will take shape during 2012 is a beach style area at the side of the lake with cafés, bars and shops with a real continental look about it. All the old nightclubs have gone and are to be replaced by more family friendly entertainment. (Not as yet specified).
The shops are mostly clothes shops like Sam Curl for example, but they do have a unique Harley Davidson Store in a new location in Pleasure Island, which has Harley memorabilia and typical biker clothing and they have retained Fuego by Sosa cigars.
There are just two restaurants open at the moment, one of which is the Portabello, an Italian waterfront restaurant serving award winning wines to enjoy with their authentic flavours of Italy found in their pizzas and pasta dishes. It has a very elegant dining atmosphere with a romantic view of the lake.
Paradiso 37 serves authentic North, Central and South American cuisine and is newly opened. It has an extensive tequila bar and offers nightly entertainment. It has a great atmosphere and is highly enjoyable.
With so much more yet to come, Pleasure Island will soon be the “Must” place to be seen.
