Poseidon’s Fury At Universal IOA
As you wind your way around the Islands of Adventure at Universal Studios you will come across a hidden gem ( tucked away behind the talking tree that squirts water over everyone) is Poseidon’s Temple
This is a very impressive looking setting looking like a proper full size temple on the outside sometimes this show is very busy and on other times its ridiculously quiet, best to arrive around 3pm in the afternoon when the visitors are starting to leave to tea time but before the evening visitors arrive
You enter a long and winding tunnel under the temple this is a very elaborate way of getting you to queue, if it’s a very hot day as it always seems to be in Florida then it’s a good place to get out of the sun for a few minutes as it’s always lovely and cool in the tunnels
Once inside you enter a tomb with your archaeologist guide, once again the guide tends to be very good at acting out his or her role as the professors assistant and the show can be quite amusing, soon the tomb doors are shut behind you and it’s not long before your plunged into darkness.
Soon your read an ancient chant and before you know if you are being led deeper and deeper into the depths of the temple and then you are trapped with no way back, with a little help from the gods and your guide you manage to open the doors to deep within the temple
The deep waters are parted for a short time allowing you to walk into the temple this is a pretty cool effect as the water actually opens up into a tunnel with the water swirling around you using centrifugal force, it’s difficult to explain but very cool for the kids and even dads
By accident you release the evil Lord Darkenon who was captured and enslaved by Lord Poseidon and soon Lord Poseidon and Lord Darkenon commence battle for control of the sea using huge fireballs, large explosions and huge eruptions of water all around you! The show is very spectacular indeed and the sounds is impressive you really can feel the heat of the fire balls and the spray from the waters as the do battle
Will you make it back to the surface as the temple starts to crash down around you?
There only one way to find out visit this attraction although sometimes neglected on a visit to Islands of Adventure I think this is one show not to be missed
