Red Lobster Restaurants
If you are a little tired of steaks, chicken and burgers, how about trying a fish dinner tonight. More particularly a lobster dinner at one of the Red Lobster chain of restaurants (not to be confused with the Boston Lobster chain, which in our opinion, was tatty, dirty and no better than a grubby transport café when we visited one of them on Highway 192).
As you enter the restaurant you will be greeted by vast fish tanks containing lobsters and some containing tropical fish. I think only the lobsters are on the menu!
At the Red Lobster, their obvious speciality is lobster, but they have a very large and varied menu that caters for all tastes, even if one of your party is not tired of steaks, chicken and burgers. As well as varied choices of lobster dishes they have a large selection of fish; tilapia, salmon, shrimp, mau mau to name just a few. There are even pasta dishes which are mainly fish based but really gorgeous. They also cater for smaller appetites by asking, when you have tilapia for example if you would like a whole or half tilapia. They also have several crab dishes to try. Their speciality is a crab fest, which is five succulent entrees for under $20.
The chefs cook the fish and steaks over a wood fired grill to give a wonderful fresh taste to the fish.
There is a varied wine list and the usual beers and sodas are offered along with a selection of cocktails. The dessert menu is pretty much the same as most restaurants in Orlando, cheesecake with various sauces, chocolate cake, an apple dessert, key lime pie to name but a few.
One of the highlights of a visit to Red Lobster, for me is the warm cheese and herbs biscuits that they serve with the salad. Nearly every entrée is preceded by a salad and the biscuits are so good I very often eat so many that I cannot manage the main course. To the UK visitors, who think of cookies as biscuits, in the United States, biscuits are scones. These come straight from the oven and are soft and fluffy and oh so more-ish!
The Red Lobster restaurants all have a very nice warm atmosphere and the décor is especially pleasing, they are inspired by Bar Harbour, Maine and are all designed to give a seaside atmosphere. So if you want a change and something a little bit different, this is a highly recommended restaurant to try.
