Seeing RED for the first time!!!
Having spent a number of years visiting Florida, Orlando in particular, it may surprise some travellers if I say we were NOT too adventurous when it came to our choice of restaurants. For many of our early visits , we did have 2 small children with us and it would be fair to say we were watching our budget VERY carefully!! It was important to our family to just be in Florida and to visit the theme parks , more than it was important to eat at the more prestigious restaurants, whether it be a restaurant chain, one in Disney or any other for that matter!! We have, however, over the years, become more adventurous, certainly within Disney itself, and now, outside of the parks too!!
There has never been any doubt, that the choice can sometimes throw you completely, the sheer array of restaurants enticing you in to their brightly lit, interesting venues can be very confusing and that is without even considering the price and type of food on offer!!
Well, one venue that was ignored for many years by my family, for a number of reasons, was Red Lobster! A chain we passed on many occasions at many locations throughout the Orlando area. Though it looked interesting enough, to be honest, it was only myself that really fancied trying their Lobster!! Well, I can now confirm, on all counts that Red Lobster is indeed a 10 out of 10 restaurant, for service, ambience and food, and I will definitely be re-visiting at the first opportunity!
We were amazed first of all, at the popularity of the restaurant, we had about a half an hour wait for a table, but sat happily at the bar with our friends and young daughter and were made to feel as if we were “old friends” by the manager and all the staff , and then at the choice of food available for my fussy eaters, though of course Seafood dominates, there was simple (but LARGE) fish and chips for the young one, and steak for my husband! So they were relieved! As for me, I took full advantage of the fact that we were there with some friends who had taken us to the Red Lobster in the first place, and so therefore this allowed me to share a Seafood Platter!! Yum Yum!! We were able to choose a mix and match for the platter from a list on the menu, and on this occasion, we chose a lobster tail, some pasta and shrimp in a creamy garlic sauce, and some plain shrimp with a salsa dip! My friends were able to manage side orders too ( I think they are Red Lobster regulars!!), but we just couldn’t manage any more food!!
It was probably, one of the most delicious and pleasant meals I had ever had in Orlando, and having now tried 2 different Red Lobster restaurants , I would not hesitate to recommend that you give it a try, great food, great value too!!
