Supermarkets in Orlando
Most people staying in a villa will enjoy the freedom of being able to eat when and where they want. The beauty of a villa is not being constrained to a set time to eat every day. Many people who stay in a villa think this factor is one of the main reasons why they book a villa and not a hotel room. With the emergence of many new supermarkets it makes it easy for those who are staying self catering to be able to get their food for their stay.
Many of the communities within Orlando and the surrounding area have either a supermarket or ‘HYPERMARKET’ (these stocking almost everything you can possibly want). In fact when a new development goes up in Orlando, there is normally a supermarket not far behind! For many people all their needs for their stay will be catered for at these places. Many of them are even open 24hrs.
In Orlando the 2 main retailers are WALMART and PUBLIX. Both offer the same sort of product, but generally WALMART tends to be a little cheaper when it comes to food items. It is amazing just how many people on vacation you can spot walking the isles in these places, especially the stores near the 192 and Championsgate.
What many people don’t realise is there is some serious money to be saved when buying your weekly shopping at these places. In some of the parks you will pay $4 for a cold drink, buy the same drink in WALMART before you go will cost around $1. For a family of 4 that is a saving of $12 every time you get a drink! Many people even by small cool boxes ($10) and take them with them when they visit the parks.
Most of the Hypermarkets now stock original Disney merchandise, which also tends to be much cheaper than buying at one of the Disney Stores. In fact there are so many toys on offer it really is hard to leave them without buying lots of toys for the kids.
Don’t feel like the adults are left out. For the ladies there is normally a huge clothes section and for the gents there is the Worlds largest electronics section, selling everything from TV’s to IPODs.
Just driving round in the car you will find you are not far from a supermarket or Hypermarket. With them being near to many of the villa communities they can really be classed a wet weather attraction, just don’t think you are going to not spend anything when walking through the door.
