Sweet Tomatoes at Rolling Oaks Common
Guests who had stayed at our villa have long been great fans of Sweet Tomato restaurants but we had never been to one until the latest branch opened in 2011 in the Rolling Oaks Common complex on the 192 as you head towards the 27. If you are travelling towards the 27 you will need to turn left into the complex and you will find a large car park adjacent to Sweet Tomatoes which is situated behind Bahama Breeze. There is also plenty of reserved parking for disabled guests here.
Sweet Tomatoes is an all you can eat salad soups and bread buffet and although you pay for your drink refills are free. We were in awe when we entered as stretched before us was a huge counter crammed with loads of salads that you can access from both sides. We were initially amazed at the choice involved. It started with several different types of salad with dressing including caeser salad then tomatoes (to be expected! ) cucumbers, beetroot, radishes, eggs, several types of onions, chilli peppers and several coleslaw type dressings my favourite was definitely a coconut coleslaw that I had never had before. I also had a rather strange mini marshmallow salad although I was not so keen on this.
Towards the end of the counter there are also many salad dressings you can help yourself to. At the end of this vast array of salads you can choose a suitable cup or glass depending on what type of refillable drink you want. You then pay at the check-out; there is a 10% discount for seniors.
Once you have you can get your utensils and find your seats there is quite a large seating area. You can then help yourself to soups – your salad will not go cold! ! You can get your soup bowl and spoon, there were about six different soups on offer when we visited there. These included Onion Soup, Chicken Noodle, Broccoli and Cheese, Beef Chilli and Clam Chowder.
Alongside the soup you will find baked potatoes including sweet potatoes with several toppings including cheese, bacon bits, chopped onions, sour cream and butter. Further along this section there are pizzas and various hot breads, the Italian bread was my favourite but you had to queue for this as quick as it was put out it went!
You can have as much salad, soup, bread, desserts as you like, we saw one guy go back 5 times to get a baked potato on which he then covered with the chilli soup and cheese then he had his salad with bread!
We did not have room for desserts but the chocolate brownies and 3 flavours of ice cream looked good.
We are not vegetarians but really enjoyed our meal it made a welcome break from all the fried food, I hope you also enjoy it if you visit there.
