Thai Thani – Celebration
Thai Thani – Celebration
One of the latest additions to good places to eat in Celebration is Thai Thani at the top end of Market Street. I think there is already a branch on the Sout of International Drive but we had never visited it.
The whole ambience is Thai as you walk in from the elegantly dressed Thai waitresses to the décor with Thai wall hangings and ornaments. The restaurant is quite spacious with a mixture of booths and tables but they have not crammed the tables too close together so it is a very pleasant place to spend an hour or so.
They are open for both lunch and dinner. The lunch menu offers smaller portions but seems to offer excellent value for money. Main courses vary from $8 to $24. 95 but most meals cost $10 or less. In the eveinings main courses cost between $12 - £20.
I am not a great lover of spicy food so I was really pleased to find that you could choose whether to have any dish mild, moderate, hot, Thai hot or firehouse. The mild dish I ordered was tasty without being hot and suited me fine. The portions were large and we and a number of other people shared meals. Service was excellent with very attentive and helpful staff.
It is worth getting there before 7 o' clock as, while they don' t have a full happy hour they do offer promotions on certain wines so that you get 2 glasses for the price of 1.
There is a good range of starters and also some interesting looking soups.
Salads are on my list to try on our next visit. I think the Yum Woon Sen will be my first choice. This consists of “Tasty glass bean thread seasoned with ground chicken, shrimp, tomatoes, onions and lime juice.
the main courses are classified into Entrees from the sea – 11 possibilities here, Entrees off the sea- another 10, Spicy Dishes – 8, Duck Specials, - 5, Noodles and Fried Rice – 9. All dishes come with rice. Most can be served with chicken beef or pork or for an extra $2 with shrimp or squid.
The desserts follow the Thai theme with dishes like Coconut Ice Cream, Green tea Ice Cream and even Fried Ice Cream. They looked very tempting but I just couldn' t manage a sweet.
This is a very welcome addition to eating out choices in Celebration and it caters for vegetarians as well as fish and meat eaters. It makes a very pleasant change from the more common steakhouse
