The Atlantic Ocean Grille
The Atlantic Ocean Grille is open from 5 p. m. daily and is on the Cocoa Beach Pier in Brevard County. Cocoa Beach is on the Atlantic Coast of Florida and is the closest beach to Orlando.
It is always fun to dine on a pier and British visitors will be amazed at the quality of the food here.
The menu is extensive, but I always feel you should eat fish when you are eating by the sea so this is what I am concentrating on.
Clam Chowder is always a good choice as a starter and this costs $3. 99. Otherwise there is shrimp cocktail at $7. 99 or Coconut beer Shrimp at $6. 99; this comes with an orange marmalade sauce.
Now for the mains; if you are really hungry you should try the combination platter. This has crab cakes, clam strips, shrimp, tilapia adn sea scallops all bread crumbed and fried.
The sides for this are salad, fries, baked potato, rice, veggies and freshly baked bread.
Fried Flounder ia also on offer at $13. 99 and comes with the same sides as the platter.
However, if you like flounder you can also have it stuffed with crab; this was one of the first meals I had in Florida so for me, it is the setimental choice. This comes in at $17. 99 with your choice of sides.
The puddings are all indulgent; no fresh fruit salad and yogurt here!
Frozen Cherries Jubilee has cherries and cream with an Oreo crust. Home made Coconut Cream Pie is $4. 99 and Rickys Hot Fudge Cake is a little more at $5. 29. This is chocolate cake filled with ice cream and covered with hot fudge.
The most interesting of all is The Pier Pleasure Bread Pudding. This is a custardy bread pudding that is a smothered in a buttery rum sauce. This costa $4. 49.
Of course there are meat options if you do not fancy sea food and my eye was caught by Chicken Piccatta and steak topped with gorgonzola.
You will notice that there are wine suggestions made for many of the dishes and this is really helpfull. A house wine will cost you $5. 99 a glass and there options for non drinkers; iced tea is often a good choice on a hot day.
On sundays you can join them for a champagne brunch. This is a good option for late risers and you should turn up between 10 a. m. and 2 p. m.
