Florida Guide > Disney General
We recently visited the Disney Boardwalk for the first time, having heard about it we had not quite managed to fit it in to our holiday schedule before this trip. So a couple of days after the New Year we decided to take a trip down with some friends who had recommended it. The weather was lovely, a typical Floridian January night so not cold at all. There were not many British tourists there mainly American so maybe a well kept secret that we are just discovering?
We drove there which was about a ten minute drive from the villa, we parked up and walked up through the entrance out onto the board walk. It was busy as it was holiday season but not so busy that you could not enjoy yourself and move about freely. We decided to just wander around soaking up the entire atmosphere and then have something to eat and possibly a couple of drinks.
We wandered around chatting and stopped to watch the various magicians who were performing silly tricks and entertaining the crowds that had stopped to watch, that night it was geared towards kids and they seemed to be having a great time and it was free so it is a good plan if you have kids to keep occupied at night. We managed to see at least 3 different magicians that night. There was also a guy on a bike with some sort of musical instrument riding past and entertaining everyone!
We decided to have a bite to eat and rather than use one of the restaurants we choose to sit out side and have Pizza and Sangria and watch the world go by. We then decided it was time for the famous Funnel cake that everyone raves about. Now I am not sure if we got a well done batch but it was not the cake I was expecting! One of the guys had deep fried ice cream which was different and he was certainly not complaining!
We then walked round the whole resort again, watching out for the crazy guys on the bikes which you can hire to pedal round it, there is also a boat rip to that takes you across the water. We ended up back on the bridge to watch the fireworks from Epcot and that was a lovely end to a mellow night!
