The Liberty Square River Boat
The Liberty Square river boat ride is situated in Frontier Land in the Magic Kingdom. You will be faced with an enormous ship that towers up three floors. You will cruise on this authentic three paddle- wheel steam ship through the rivers of America in the style that existed back in the old days. You will be greeted at the ships dock-side by porters in period costume inviting you to, “All aboard”. Once on the ship you can roam quite freely about looking at all the things that made a steam ship work. Some just head for good viewing points from which to see the scenes on the ride as it travels through the American rivers. You can go upstairs or down to explore if you prefer.
Then it is all ready to leave with the crew calling to each other through the speaking tubes and finally the shrill whistle as the ship steams gracefully away from the dock side.
The steam ship travels for a half mile circle through Frontier Land. You will pass through Tom Sawyer’s Island and see all the people exploring the island through rope bridges and caves. (Your children will love exploring this island after you have finished your tour on the steam ship)
You will see things that you can only see from the steam ship, such as Indian encampments with squaws preparing food on open fires, while children play round the tepees and the Indian men hunt for the food.
You will also pass by the Great Thunder Mountain Rail Road ride and see the passengers climbing up the steep climbs before you hear their screams as they dive excitedly down as the roller coaster drops down the other side.
On your way round the island, you will meet some interesting folk; like the old man in his rocking chair on the front porch of his wooden shack and the fisher men on the banks of the river and small boats moored up by caves where you will hear the jollity of parties going on in them.
You will also pass by the entrance to the Haunted Mansion and see the grave stones of some of the departed one thousand ghosts that inhabit the mansion.
It can be relaxing just finding a seat some where on the deck and just imagining your self back in the old days, or leaning over the rails trying to spot as many things going on as possible.
Slowly the ship will return to the dock and back to the hustle bustle of the park.
