The Moor at the Gaylord Palms resort
The Moor is the brand new reboot of Sunset Sam’s waterfront restaurant in Gaylord Palm’s Key West Atrium for anybody who visited Sunset Sam’s. For anybody who doesn’t know Sunset Sam’s or has never visited Gaylord Palms, It’s location is really easy to get to. Hop right off at Osceola Parkway, 417 or I-4. Parking is Free when you dine here even valet and if you’re staying at a Disney resort? Take a complementary shuttle from any of Walt Disney World’s theme parks or Downtown Disney.
The first thing you notice about The Moor is the sheer size of the restaurant, they have a 12, 000 square foot lawn, inside in the lounge area or main dining room and waterfront on a 60-foot sailboat within the atrium. You can dine al fresco on the restaurant’s patio which overlooks the lawn.
We choose to sit in the lounge area and looked at the menu to decide what we were going to eat, so many choices. The starter menu was amazing; you’re certainly spoilt for choice here. The Moor is all about Sea Food so if you don’t like Sea Food its worth you knowing now, you can still choose one of the other many restaurants at Gaylord Palms.
The menu at Moor changes daily but a sampling of offerings might include fresh-off-the-line grouper, hog fish, mahi or snapper. Appetizers of jalapeno cornbread and buttermilk biscuits with apple butter and bacon jam. Chicken and waffles with maple pan sauce and even a MOOR burger.
For the Starter we had Grilled Cedar Key Clams, absolutely superb and so tasty. This was washed down perfectly with a dry white wine. Next the Entrée, for this we choose the Lake Meadows Chicken & Waffles which is a ricotta herb waffle with maple pan sauce. Again I could not fault the food.
For our desert we tried the Key Lime Pie key lime, graham cracker and fresh cream. Once again this was the perfect desert to go with our sea food meal.
When our dining experience had finished we went for a walk and enjoyed a nice leisurely stroll throughout the Key West, St. Augustine and Everglade Atriums. Moor joins Sand Bar, Sora Sushi, Vila de Flora, Wreckers Sports Bar, and Old Hickory Steakhouse to round out the magnificent dining options at Gaylord Palms.
I haven’t tried all the other dining options here but I will certainly be back to The Moor at Gaylord Palms.
