The new Town Center at Cagan's Crossing
When we visit our villa in Orlando we always enjoy a trip to Town Center at Cagan’s Crossing, which is two minutes away, just opposite the fantastic SuperWarlmart on Highway 27, north of the junction with the 192. This pretty development is continuing to grow, and is a mixture of residential apartments, plus shops and restaurants. This attractive town centre is tree-lined and beautifully landscaped, and has a variety of eye-catching and colourful buildings housing the various shops and restaurants which have opened recently. It is an ideal place for an evening walk, and there are plenty of venues to choose from if you want a meal.
Here are some of the restaurants which you can try out:
China 2 Restaurant and Sushi Bar is an authentic Chinese restaurant which also serves fresh sushi. Everything is made to order.
Gator’s Dockside Bar and Grill is one of the newest eateries which has a sports bar with huge screen TVS. It is a family restaurant which caters for everyone
Quiznos – this alternative to fast food restaurants serves freshly made subs, salads and soups.
Sherlocks - if you have been to Celebration then you will be familiar with ‘Sherlocks’ and we were delighted to find that this English teashop has now opened, and offers pots of tea and a variety of cakes, pastries and freshly baked scones with Devonshire cream and strawberry preserve. They also serve light lunches and dinners, and you can drop by in the evening to try one of their hearty soups or salads. Displayed in the tea room are the works of a local artist, Maria Barry, which are available to purchase.
Di Rosa’s Pizza – the ideal place for a pizza – eat in or take away.
Rollin’ Dough Bakery - finding a real bakery in Orlando can be quite difficult but this one uses only the finest ingredients with no preservatives or additives. They sell pies, cakes, Danish pastries, Cinnamon rolls, Cookies, Petit Fours and of course freshly baked bread and rolls. They also retail authentic British Meat Pies from the Proper Pie Company. You can even order a home cooked meal to eat at home.
Viceroy Indian Bar & Grill - the ideal venue for those who like a good curry.
As well as eateries there are many different shops and services available:
Sinka’s Sweets is an ice cream parlour which offers a range of ice creams and candy, and home made ice cream cakes. You can even have a birthday party here!
Bolero shoes – no explanation needed here!
Herb Shoppe - sells an assortment of health food items, and supplements. It also sells natural eco-conscious clothes made of natural fibres.
For those who are interested in health and beauty there are several outlets here:
Nails & Spa – this is for ladies and gents, and an appointment is not always necessary.
New York Style Beauty - supplies a variety of hair and nail products, as well as hair extensions and wigs
Anytime Fitness - this is a great gym which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year and is ideal if you want to maintain your fitness whilst you are in Orlando. You can join on a daily or weekly basis.
Goin’ Postal – here you can have access to all the main carriers such as FedEx, DHL and UPS as well as the US postal service. You can fax and photocopy here, too.
A huge new library has recently opened and visitors may sign up here to borrow books or use the internet free.
Should you need the services of a dentist there is a new dental practise, South Lake Dental.
This is a fast developing area, and as well as the restaurants at Town Center there are more in the surrounding area, including Chillis, McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell and Long John Silvers, plus more in the pipeline.
This is certainly developing fast into one of the best areas to be in, as everything is so conveniently placed, within a couple of minutes ofour villa. There is also a new and huge shopping centre which has been built just 3 miles away along the 192, which includes Target and several new restaurants, so it really couldn’t be more convenient. Add to that the proximity to Disney and the location can’t be beaten.
