The Olive Garden Italian Restuarant
I love Italian food, but one restaurant that I hadn’t been to in all of my visits to Florida was The Olive Garden. I can’t explain why this was apart from the Italian Restaurants’ that we already frequented were so good that I didn’t want to go somewhere else and not have fantastic food in a great atmosphere.
Anyway we were out shopping and decided tonight is the night so off we go to The Olive Garden Restaurant that is just located outside of the entrance to Downtown Disney. It was 6pm so hopefully we should miss the evening rush. We are seated as soon as we walk in but the restaurant looks busy for that time of a night. We start to scour the menu and before long our server is arrives to take our drinks order and brings along some freshly baked garlic bread sticks. All I can say is wow – they were delicious and you could have re-fills we also enjoy the unlimited salad bowl which came with a mouth watering Italian dressing.
The menu is comprehensive with options of pizza, and classic Italian dishes of Lasagna, Spaghetti, Eggplant, Meatballs or you can even have the ‘Tour of Italy’ which is a combination of the Lasagna, Chicken Parmigiana and the creamy Fettuccine Alfredo. Meat dishes include beef, pork and chicken or you could decide on seafood and choose between dishes of shrimp, tilapia, salmon or mussels. Finally, you could take a look at the Garden Fare options with many items low in calories, fat and carbohydrates including the Venetian Apricot Chicken which is a grilled chicken breast in an apricot citrus sauce served with broccoli, asparagus and diced tomatoes all in only 380 calories – not bad if you are watching those pounds. There is also a Gluten free menu as well.
They have a nice children’s menu with food that every child would enjoy including Macaroni & Cheese, Grilled Chicken, Cheese Pizza, Spaghetti & Tomato sauce.
Matthew choose the Chicken Fingers which comes with broccoli or fries and I am sure that you can guess which one he choose – he doesn’t do healthy. I eventually opt for the Chicken Marsala. The service was quick and the food arrived hot and everything was eaten.
We rounded off our meal with desserts a vanilla ice cream sundae and for me my all time favourite classic Italian dessert of Tiramisu.
Overall the food was delicious, service was prompt, the table and the atmosphere were great and I can’t wait to go back. This restaurant will certainly on our firm favourites list and I have even printed the menu and left it at the villa with directions for our guests.
