Here is a guide to each area of Universal Studios with info on the rides, restaurants and shops in each “land”

The different areas consist of:

  • Production Central
  • New York
  • San Francisco/Amity
  • World Expo
  • Kidzone
  • Hollywood

Specially designed for kids and kids of all ages. This area is home to ET, Barney, Animal Planet, Fievel's Play land, Curious George Play land. With 1 ride, 2 shows, 1 giant water slide, 1 kid sized rollercoaster, 1 ball factory and countless areas to get soaked in, this is one area kids will definitely want to visit.

Attractions

ET “20th Anniversary” Adventure

Gondola ride. Very popular and lines can be long; especially appeals to kids. Ride takes visitors to E.T’s planet. Universal Express Available.

Re-opened on March 23, 2002 for the re-release of the films 20th Anniversary the ride offers some new entertainment. Once you enter the theatre you are greeted by Steven Spielberg who informs us E.T. has crash landed on Earth 10,000 light years from home and you need to help him get home. "The Green Planet" is dying and only E.T.'s magical healing touch can save his planet and it's up to you to help him. So you enter the lush forest where NASA Astronauts looking for E.T. and you, see E.T.'s Dial Home Device in the woods sending the message to pick him up. Then E.T.'s teacher Botanticus appears in the woods and asks the people of Earth to help E.T. get home because the planet is dying. You then move to your bike with E.T. on board and fly off. You have to evade the evil NASA scientists who want E.T... With them out of the way you must to get passed the police, with ambushes set up all over you fly off high above the city. Then it's off to "The Green Planet" where you meet up with E.T.'s friends and family. Can you help E.T. save the planet and return to Earth safely?

Animal Planet – Live!

Animal and bird show. Audience participation. Universal Express Available.

Animal Planet Live! has replaced the Animal Actors Stage Show. This new and exciting show incorporates the best of both worlds. Animal stars, including many animal shelter adoptees, take centre stage bringing the popular Animal Planet television network's favourite shows together with behind-the-scenes movie magic. This new show integrates demonstrations by clever and dexterous animal stars with multi-media effects and human co-stars.

Fieval’s Play land

Children’s Maze.

Water based kids play area, with rope climbs, slides, bridges, water slides, water, water and more water. Its fun for kids and adults be sure to leave your cameras and wallet in a locker or with someone outside the area. You only get wet if you want to.

Woody Woodpeckers Nuthouse Coaster

Kid-sized, gentle roller coaster. Height Requirement 36" Inches. Top speed 22MPH.

Woody Woodpecker's KidZone features a kid-sized roller coaster and a water-filled play area. The Nuthouse Coaster is an 800-foot, fire-engine-red mini-coaster that dips, turns and swirls, reaching speeds of 22 mph. Children must be more than 3 years old to ride the two-minute coaster, and kids under 48 inches tall must ride with a parent.

Curious George Goes to Town

Play area with water. Separate area for very young children. Obstacle course. Ball factory.

Woody Woodpecker KidZone is also home to the Curious George Goes to Town water play land. Featuring more than 12,000 foam balls and 15,000 gallons of water, this area is a virtual city of aquatic fun. Kids climb into windows on each side of the "town" and squirt water into the mouths of animals in the main clock tower. They race to see which side can fill up a 500-gallon bucket of water, which is just waiting to be dumped on the opposite side. Nearby is a smaller water-filled play area, including a Big Top Tent full of circus-themed slides and a waterspout courtyard.

A Day in the Life of Barney

Theatre show. Aimed at very young children. Universal Express available.

Barney's digs are a little less adventuresome, combining educational games with a cute stage show featuring Baby Bop, BJ and Barney himself. And, of course, the "can't-get-it-out-of-your-head" theme song is playing endlessly for an even more love-filled experience!!!! This is definitely a love it or hate it experience…..
