US Steak is Best!
I love steak.
Let me redefine that I really, really, REALLY LOVE STEAK ?
If the only food in the world was steak then I would be a very happy (and quite possibly a very large) guy.
US steak is without a shadow of a doubt the best. Though it does of course depend on exactly where you have your steak in the US and how you have it cooked.
Number 1 for me is Manny’s Chophouse on highway 27, followed by Charlie’s, then a little known place in Bulgaria (if you want a recommendation for a fantastic Bulgarian restaurant near Sunny Beach then please ask! ), maybe Wolf Gang Puck next.
Don’t bother having steak in any other restaurant no matter how great it looks and how hungry you are; you will be heading for a big disappointment.
But what makes US steak best I hear you cry!
Well I used to think it was the 21 day aged thingy, but we get that in the UK now and it’s still not a patch on US steak.
Take the best steak you can i. e. Manny’s New York Strip (drooooool). Firstly it looks great, not black from being over cooked and not swimming in blood; unless you like it that way of course! You also get a little plastic prod’er thing (technical eh); the first thing you do is just gently push it and just feel how easily it slips into the steak. Hey! that must mean it is super tender! . Then cut it…. . I have mine medium, so just pink on the inside; it looks perfect. You can feel the lack of resistance as you cut; in fact you don’t need to “cut” just let the knife glide through it. Next of course now you’ve stopped messing about is to actually taste it!
You can feel the tenderness on your tongue instantly, and then the lovely subtle taste melts into your mouth. It truly is pure heaven!
I just sit there like an idiot not eating my food, but playing with it and lovingly nurturing every mouthful like it was going to be my last on earth.
Manny’s steak has minimal fat and so a clean plate is almost guaranteed as well as I return to the restaurant VERY soon!
Did I tell you that I liked steak? – Hey! you’re lucky I haven’t told you about curry yet my second most favourite food in the whole world! ?
