Florida Guide > Travelling

At the end of your holiday, with everything packed up and maybe having to vacate your accommodation in the morning you could be looking for something to do to kill a few hours before making your way to the airport.

Some airlines do offer an early bag check-in, so you may want to get rid of your luggage and then spend a few leisurely hours before leaving.

Here are a few ideas of things do that will fill the time:

Gatorland. This attraction is one that is often overlooked – and is easily done in half a day. The 110 acre park is primarily a nature conservation and is the home of literally hundreds of alligators. You can see them in natural surroundings and there are a few other species of wildlife to see too. There is a small train which travels around the park if you decide not to tackle it all on foot. Highlights are feeding time and also the gator wrestling show that you can watch and then have your photo taken with a gator!

Shopping – well there are many options here! You may well have already shopped at an outlet or mall and would like to spend those last few dollars in one of your favourite haunts! If you haven’t already visited one – then why not try one of the designer outlets, such as Premium Outlets, Prime Outlets or Buena Vista.

Celebration The town of Celebration is situated just off the Highway 192 and is a small town built in the old colonial style. The main street has individual little shops to browse in and you can grab a coffee or lunch there too.

Crazy Golf. Ideal for the whole family. There are several of these in the Orland/Kissimmee area – one which you may pass several times during your stay in on the Highway 192.

Boggy Creek Airboat rides – the actual ride will take only about an hour but you may have to wait for half an hour or so to get on the boat. Have your camera ready to snap the wildlife – gators, turtles and various birds. You can get lunch here too at the café.

Downtown Disney. If you have been busy at the Disney Parks you may have overlooked this part of Disney. There are various Disney stores where you can make those last minute purchases.

Disney Boardwalk. Have a leisurely walk around the lake and grab a coffee or ice-cream

The above are just a few of the things you could do – and there are no doubt many more!

Whatever you do – enjoy your last few hours in the Sunshine State and hopefully you will be back!
