Where to eat on a budget
Florida is a food lovers paradise, with so many places to choose from you could eat at a different restaurant every day all year round.
So if you are only visiting for two or three weeks you will be spoilt for choice. Fast food is everywhere, very cheap and plenty of it. There are over 75 McDonalds and 45 Burger Kings in Orlando. But it is not the only option, look carefully and you will find many top class restaurants and steak houses. There is something for every taste and budget.
The standard of service is excellent no matter where you go. For those of you dining on a budget why not start your day with an “all you can eat breakfast buffet”. These are very common in Orlando, and offer excellent value for money. Look out for restaurants such as Ponderosa, Denny’s and Perkins. Also look out for coupons in the local free leaflets offering further discounts. Don’t be embarrassed to use them as nearly everyone does.
Many restaurants also have “children eat free” offers, which allow one child to eat free of charge for each full paying adult. If you fancy something a little more upmarket, but still watching the dollars, try TGI Fridays, they do a great range of burgers, pasta dishes, and ribs. Chillis is another favourite of ours. Their Fajitas are the best we have tasted, and are served sizzling hot. They also have a “buy one get one free” on most beer and wine in the evening.
A couple of others to try would be The Olive Garden, for great Italian food and very large portions, Bahama Breeze and The Cheesecake Factory. There are just too many to mention.
At the other end of the scale you have Timpano Italian Chophouse and Ruth Chris Steak House. These are my two favourite restaurants in Orlando. But be warned they are not cheap. Save them for those very special occasions. Reservations here are advisable and the dress code is a little more than the usual shorts and tee shirt. Although they won’t turn you away if that’s what you’ve got on. Alcohol in these type of restaurants is quite pricey, so keep an eye on what you order. A glass of wine tends to start at around $8. Also the side orders are all priced separately, so your bill can mount up very quickly.
Be warned though, the sides are quiet large, so maybe one between two people would be enough for you.
Where ever you decide to eat in Orlando I am sure you will enjoy yourself and if your anything like me will come home half a stone heavier!
