After enjoying many Sunday Brunches at the Renaissance Hotel we were so disappointed when they stopped that we decided to try an alternative on our recent trip. We weren’t disappointed with our choice.

For a stunning Champagne Sunday Brunch the La Coquina Restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is well worth a visit.

The hotel is located at One Grand Cypress Boulevard, just off of SR 535.

It is themed as a French Marketplace.

The quality and selection of food is fantastic.

After seating you at your table your waiter will give you a guided tour of the buffet area, located in the kitchen. All items are buffet style except for the freshly prepared, made to order entrées. There are five choices and you can go back and order as many as you would like to (or can manage, I could only manage one but they all looked delicious). Also eggs, waffles and pancakes are cooked to order and accompanied with the usual toppings.

The unlimited champagne and fresh orange juice mean you never have an empty glass, no matter how hard you try.

The food choices include caviar, sushi, fresh/ dried fruits, cheeses, pastas, breads, pastries and seafood. The desserts are divine, so try to save some room to enjoy them. If you love chocolate you will find the dessert section impossible to resist, it tempts you from the moment you arrive as it is located at the entrance of the restaurant.

The restaurant has a view of Lake Windsong and along with the background tunes from the piano player the restaurant has a very relaxing atmosphere, perfect for a peaceful Sunday.

Many of the diners were Americans from distant states and it was not their first visit, they all return here while they are in Florida! Some were such regulars even the chef came out to say ‘ Hi’.

The restaurant is not too large so I would strongly recommend booking in advance.

The Sunday Brunch is held seasonally September – June, so keep your fingers crossed it coincides with your trip. Unfortunately we will miss out on our next trip.

This restaurant will probably be better suited to adults due to the food selection unless your children enjoy varied food and not just normal children’s fare (our 12 year old daughter loved it and can’t wait to return).

The dress code is Resort Casual, with no shorts or jeans allowed.

The cost is approx $60. 00 per head.
