At first sight some of the more cynical small boys take one look at Cinderella’s Castle and let out an audible groan, “Aw it’s just for soppy girls”. So where to go to appease them.
First, head to the left of the castle and go straight to Adventure Land. Here they will find the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House. They can climb up this replica of the house used by the South Seas ship wrecked family in the film of the same name in 1960. They will find rooms that were crafted out of the tree with all their belongings left behind. See their beds and their tables and chairs, all faithfully reproduced.
Leaving here they can head on over to the Jungle Cruise and board a safari boat to the African, Asian and South American continents. They will see all the things small boys love, lions, tigers, elephants, hippos and shrunken heads on poles and guns!
Of course best of all is The Pirates of the Caribbean. They will see all their favourites from the film starring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and even spot the man himself in several places.
If you can get them out of the Pirates gift shop, you can take them to the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. They can ride the runaway train in the old west town of Tumbleweed. They can show how brave they are by lifting their arms high in the air as the train swoops round the clackety track.
As soon as they get off this ride, they will tearing round to ride Splash Mountain. They may at first groan again when they see all the lovable characters of the 1946 film, The Song Of The South, singing Zip a de do dah, but as soon as they realise they are about to drop down one of the longest log flume drops in the world, their faith will be restored. It is awesome!
Once they have dried off from Splash Mountain (yes they will get wet, very wet) they can take a raft across to Tom Sawyer’s Island. Here they can explore caves and climb log bridges and have a high old time wearing them selves out running around – while Mum and Dad can rest in the café there. While they are in there, they might see the huge three storey Liberty Square Riverboat. It is an authentic replica of the paddlewheel steam ships that cruised the American waterways in days gone by. Take them on this too, they will love it.
