The New Applebees Restaurant, Bery Town Center
When we heard that there was to be a new Applebees at Berry Town Center, at Sandmine Rd, just off Highway 27 we were delighted. This area is developing fast and many new and favourite restaurants are being built.
Our beautiful villa is located at the junction of the 192 and Highway 27 so this new restaurant is extremely convenient, being just a couple of minutes drive south from our home, so we were pleased to hear that it had finally opened at the end of February.
We first visited an Applebees in Miami, a couple of years ago and were impressed with the standard of the food and the quickness of the service. It is very much a family restaurant, and has a great community feel about it. So we were looking forward to having this great value restaurant close by our villa. We tend to eat out a lot when we are in Orlando, as it is great value, and I, for one, do not want to be a slave to the cooker when I am supposed to be on vacation.
Well, Applebees is now open, and we made our first visit a couple of days ago. It stands at the front of the shopping Plaza at Berry Town Center, and has a large car park, with plenty of space, even at busy times. Like all Applebees restaurants, this one has a large central bar area surrounded by tables, as well as booths, seating 4 people. There are colourful ‘tiffany’ lamps and on the walls are photographs of film stars, films and TV programmes such as Sean Connery, Indiana Jones, Mash, Spiderman and even Betty Boop. There are also areas dedicated to sport, with photos of players and various items of memorabilia on the walls. There is even an area which had items of interest linked to Daytona, and car racing. Of course there are flat screen TV’s should you wish to watch some sport.
If you prefer, you can also eat outside, as there is a pleasant shady veranda, with fans to keep you cool.
However, if you prefer to eat at home, on the lanai, then you can make use of their ‘Carside to Go’ service. All you need to do is pick up a menu – we always leave some at our villa so guests can see what local restaurants provide – and make your choice. Then make a quick phone call to order your food, and your meal will be ready for you to collect by car. As they say, ‘Call, Pick Up, Enjoy. ’
