["THE LIST"]

Before I found Storytellers, when I was looking for places my family and I could rent for our trips to Orlando, I had a list. I expect you to have a similar list. A list of all the things your dream villa must-have. At the same time, I would both love and hate the list. On one hand, it would make me reject most of the villas I was able to find. On the other, it tantalised me with the dream of the perfect holiday destination, where everything was available and beautiful and… right.

When I decided to buy, I made a new list, a long list that made my realtor recoil in horror. My original list meant it took weeks for me to find a villa to rent. My new list meant it took months for me to find a home to buy.

You’re looking at the only villa that satisfied the list.

[THE LOCATION]

You’ve already read that Storytellers is set in the Indian Creek community and that it is one of the closest to Disney property. Did you know there is a little-known cut-through directly onto Disney property that avoids all the morning traffic?

Within a couple of miles, you have access to an array of restaurants, a bar, a pharmacy and a supermarket. Locally, you also have all the attractions, stores and restaurants for which the US Highway 192 is so famous.

[The Bedrooms]

First, the bedrooms – there’s five of them, with four full bathrooms to make sure there’s no waiting around while the family is getting ready for a fun day visiting theme parks. That's two master bedrooms with en-suites (one king, one queen), one queen bedroom with its own bathroom and two twin bedrooms which share a bathroom.

Both master bedrooms have direct access to the pool deck.

Each bedroom has a 40in HDTV with a Blu-ray player and Netflix.

The two kids’ bedrooms are themed (princesses and pirates) and they'll love hanging out in them... There are even little white fluffy clouds on the walls!

[The Cinema]

Speaking of hanging out, have you seen the cinema? It can comfortably accommodate nine in its sumptuous stadium seating, so everybody has a great view of the high definition 122in screen (yes, that’s 10ft!). Your Mickey ears are in for a real treat with the excellent Yamaha/Pioneer Signature Series surround sound system.

If you’re not in the mood for a movie, stream your favourite music, or connect your USB media and enjoy the Jurassic Park pinball machine and arcade machine with a choice of 60 arcade games. Beware – it’s seriously addictive!

[The Pool Deck]

Once you finally tear yourself away from the cinema to come outside and enjoy the wonderful Floridian weather, the private pool deck is the place to be. It’s south-west facing, so it’s a true sun trap and is extended to give you the space you want, and enclosed to give you the privacy your family needs. There is an outdoor dining suite, sun loungers and even a barbecue for you to really taste some outdoor living. The heated pool is a spectacular playground for the young and the young at heart. The spa is the perfect way to unwind and ease those aching muscles after a busy day’s theme park touring. The shaded lanai is a real outdoor living room, complete with a ceiling fan, cushioned wicker seating and even an outdoor HDTV! Finally, the unique golf putting green is completely fenced, so nobody has to see how badly you putt!

[The Living Area]

The great room is the place to relax. Kick back in the leather sofas and be captivated by the 70in HDTV, or enjoy some family time with the Nintendo Wii, or one of the many board games available. There’s a dining area, a breakfast nook and fully-equipped kitchen, complete with stainless steel appliances and a side-by-side fridge/freezer complete with chilled, filtered water and an ice dispenser.

Storytellers Villa has high-speed internet access with wifi and a printer/scanner so you can (through teary eyes, no doubt) check-in for your return flight. Nationwide phone calls (perhaps to postpone those flights?) are complimentary.

[Free Disney Crowd Calendar]

Unique to Storytellers, each booking receives a complimentary crowd calendar for the duration of the stay, allowing you to see which Disney parks will have the lowest crowd levels and which parks you should visit on which day of your stay so you can spend the least time queuing and the most time experiencing the attractions.

Each booking is subject to a non-refundable damage waiver to cover accidental damage of up to $500.

All taxes are included in the rental rates, although pool heating is an additional £35 ($50) per day (recommended from October to March). Pool heating must be booked for a minimum of four days.

Bookings of fewer than seven nights will incur an additional cleaning fee.

Storytellers Villa is secured upon receipt of a 20% non-refundable deposit, with the balance due 8 weeks before travel. Bookings made less than 8 weeks from arrival date must be paid for in full at the time of booking.

Online payments are subject to an online payment fee.

Hi, my name is Tony, I live in London and I work for the John Lewis Partnership.

I've been a complete Orlando addict since visiting in 1992 with my family. I can't get enough of the weather, the parks and the friendly, laid-back atmosphere. I first began booking villas instead of hotels as a cost-saving measure but soon got accustomed to (or spoiled by) the space, privacy and not having to share the pool! Having rented a number of villas over the years, I finally decided to buy my own in 2013.

I am unashamedly meticulous, and my recent winter remodel is the ultimate reflection of how I work. I believe there's a standard of care you can only get by doing the work yourself. The only contractor I used was for the granite, I tackled everything else with my own two hands. I don't believe in cutting corners; if a project requires a trade I haven't yet mastered, I take the time to learn it to ensure it is executed flawlessly. From crawling through the loft, to sawing custom timber, scraping ceilings and hand-fitting the solid oak finishes, I obsess over every fraction of a millimeter. I pour this level of relentless dedication into maintaining Storytellers Villa to rigorous standards. Storytellers is a true labour of love – it's built, not bought.

Had a great holiday in Florida and the villa was an excellent base to do what we needed in terms of shops, amenities, parks etc. Tony was very responsive to some early queries and issues (his local management company let him down with some basic housekeeping issues and we couldn't work the pool and some TV remotes!!). He resolved every one the same day which we appreciated hugely. Once resolved we fully enjoyed the large villa and pool albeit we were out and about quite a lot too! The villa itself is at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac but there is a wee bit of traffic noise from the back of the villa (highway 429) but to be honest, we kinda forgot about it after a day or so and we only initially noticed it because we live in an area of the UK that is relatively quiet traffic wise. And there is a TV in porch so we had plenty of choice of our own music to play whilst enjoying the pool. Our only regret was not using the large BBQ which we promised ourselves we'd do! Maybe next time. You are less than 10 minutes drive to many large supermarkets, shops and a garage for fuel if you have a car, and very close to the Disney Parks too. There is a back road called Sherberth Road which avoids lots of traffic and gets you to the Disney parks quicker if you have satnav, great little short cut! Villa was very well equipped and had all the modern amenities including our go to cooking machine, an air fryer! I'd also recommend a short trip to Celebration where you can get ice cream in an idyllic setting and spot baby alligators swimming freely in the large lakes., again not that far from the villa. Anyway, thanks again to Tony for his communication and responsiveness. We had a fantastic vacation and I'd recommend it as a great base for a vacation.

The home was perfect, very close to the Disney world attractions. Tony was a great host
