Bass Pro Shop at Festival Bay Mall
If you have any interested in fishing, boating, shooting, or hunting then you will be fascinated by the Bass Pro Shop at Festival Bay Mall. Not only will all your equipment needs be met but you can also buy appropriate clothing and shoes.
Festival Bay Mall can be found at the top end of International Drive and is just a few miles before the Mall at Millennia. It is easy to find from the I4 exit 75A and from the Florida Turnpike.
The first things you notice when you approach are the boats which are displayed outside. Not surprisingly these are mainly boats suitable for Florida inland waters so very shallow draught with bimini sun roofs and there is a great choice of style, size and price. However, it is the inside of the shop that is really impressive.
As you walk in through the door it is as if you are going into a vast hunting lodge! In the winter there is a roaring log fire with comfortable seats just inside the door.
Our first stop is always at the boating section where we have a close look at all the latest fixtures, fittings, and gadgets. After a lot of deliberation we actually rarely buy as we are always unsure of dimensions that will be suitable, but we do enjoy looking.
As you move towards the centre of the store you become aware of a vast, landscaped fish tank taking up the central space. This has examples of many of Florida’s freshwater fish. There is a platform above and it is from here that one of the store’s experts will give information and instructions. Free fly tying and also casting lessons are available on some days. You can check the dates on the website. The range of rods and other equipment is amazing. Choosing from such a wide range must be very difficult.
To someone from the UK the array of guns for sale is very surprising but this is not an area that we spend much time on.
I always tend to gravitate to the clothing section and they do have some lovely things, particularly in the winter when their warm, hardwearing, sweaters and coats are displayed. They are reasonably priced and they usually have some lines on special offer.
While you are there you can explore the rest of the Festival Bay Mall. It is usually very quiet so you can browse and buy in peace.
