Champions gate golf course
Champion’s gate golf course was designed by Greg Norman and is the home of the world famous David leadbetter Golf Academy.The complex offers two championship golf courses and extensive practice facilities including putting and chipping greens, practice bunkers and a practice range.
The entrance and lobby are very impressive, and it is staffed with helpful professional staff, the important “first impression” is one of an efficient luxurious golf club. It provides an extremely well stocked professional shop with a wide range of goods on offer. There is also an excellent bar and restaurant offering a wide range of dishes the food is both tasty and very well presented.
Rates of play and availability depend on the time of day and time of year, you are able to book by telephone and a credit card will reserve you a tee time.
It is situated only 15 minutes from Disney and is very easily accessible. On arrival you can choose valet parking or just park up yourself.
On arrival your clubs are taken from you to be loaded onto a caddy cart at the rear of the clubhouse, which then leaves you free to change in the locker rooms, pay green fees and then make your way to the caddy station where you are directed to the first tee.
If you have time there are putting facilities outside the clubhouse and at the first tee, also on the first tee, tee’s pencils and pitch marker repair forks are available. Caddy carts are essential as the walks between green and tee’s are long as you would expect of Florida.A computer mounted inside the cart gives you a full range of information including yardages from tee to green and various bunkers on the hole and also pro’s tip’s.All the information needed to have a perfect game.The rest is down to you.
The course is designed mainly with traditional link’s land features of hump’s hollow’s and bunkers on the left of most holes and water on the right of most holes and near to the greens.The fairways are generous and the rough forgiving .With receptive green’s , good fairway the whole experience is to be thoroughly enjoyed.
Starting with a relatively straight forward par 4, there are a number of interesting holes, requiring accurate if not long tee shot’s leaving medium irons to the green.
Holes 6 , 7, 8 are very strong holes requiring long tee shots to reach the greens, in regulation hole 8 is a par 5 with water all down the right, humps bunkers and hollow on the left with a small green making this a good 3 shot par 5, I regard this as the signature hole of the course.
The back nine is an excellent mixture of medium to strong par 4, long par 3 and good par 5.
Altogether a wonderful experience not to be missed.
