Fresh Market Retail Store
The lady who owns the Management Company that looks after our villa first introduced us to Fresh Market several years ago. She invited us around for dinner and gave us the most amazing melba toast style biscuits topped with a delicious crab spread. From that moment we were hooked.
Fresh Market has stores all over the US and the one we visit is at 5000 Dr Philips Boulevard. There is probably a more direct route but we usually access it by turning off Sandlake Road.
It is a wonderful upscale grocery store that sells the most marvelous food and items that can be difficult to find. The selection is vast although the prices are a bit high (except for the beer and wine), but we are on holiday so we treat ourselves!
The first thing we do when we enter the store is to get a cup of freshly brewed coffee to sip while we have a stroll round; our stroll usually takes about an hour!
The coffee leads us to thinking about our coffee purchase and we head to their huge fresh ground coffee station. You can choose from more than 30 whole bean coffees from around the world, last time we opted for Jamaican Blue Mountain. If you prefer flavoured coffees try their Hazelnut and Molten Chocolate, they also have a large selection of decaffeinated blends and flavours.
Fresh market prides itself on “being one of the last retailers in the United States to offer a full-service Meat Department. ” There is always a butcher on hand throughout the day and you can watch them cutting fresh steaks, making fresh kebabs, and preparing stuffed chicken breasts and pork chops, it is great to watch.
We also treat ourselves to some cheese from here as they have two hundred varieties of imported and domestic cheeses, including imported authentic Parmesan Reggiano and Pt. Reyes Blue Cheese, do try the latter it is gorgeous.
My Father spends a long time lingering over their comprehensive Nut Bar whilst the girls choose their purchases from the Candy Bar. Whist they are doing this I usually go to the dried pasta section and usually buy at least 3 packets to take back to the UK.
At the Bakery we normally get some rolls for lunch and a Brownie Sampler which comprises ten really rich chocolate brownies.
Their Seafood section is marvelous and so fresh as they have up to six deliveries of fresh seafood. Last time we bought some salmon marinated in Jim Beam and which made a fabulous dinner that evening. As we left we bought a couple of desserts to complete our dinner whist my Father got a beautiful bunch of flowers for my Mother.
If you get chance do visit Fresh Market it is pricey but you will enjoy the shopping experience.
