Logans Roadhouse
Kissimmee Old Town on a quiet day is akin to a ghost town with the tumbleweed blowing and rolling over in the wind. Pay another visit on a busy day and it' s difficult to recognise it, the place is buzzing and the atmosphere crackles with electric. Thursday night is bike nite with a parade and show of bikes, trikes, choppers and other unusual motor cycles, Friday' s Cruise Nite features cars of special interest, customs and exotics from the years 1975 to 1987. The cars are on display from 6p. m. onwards and the parade starts at 9p. m. Live rock music starting at 7. 30p. m. adds to the entertainment. Saturday is Cruise Nite for over three hundred classic cars, hot rods and antiques starting at 8. 30. p. m. and is again accompanied by live music. The quality of the musicians and singers is exceptional and it all leads to a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Once you have had your fill and the first pang of hunger kicks in, cross the 192 to Logan' s Roadhouse where you will be pleasantly delighted with what you discover. The company was started in 1991 and already has almost two hundred outlets, its' success summed up recently in the Business Week Magazine which wrote, ' . . . . in a crowded industry dominated by Outback Steakhouse. . . . Logan' s Roadhouse has carved out a profitable niche. '
The first thing you notice as you walk through the front doors is the rustic original American roadhouse theme with its' background of classic rock music. The next thing which draws attention to itself is the liberal carpet of peanut shells littering the floor. Small buckets of peanuts are everywhere for diners and customers who are only in for a drink to help themselves. Possibly not a good idea to eat too many if you are planning to have a meal, and a very nice meal it will be at that.
Logan' s Roadhouse has gone out of its way to create a laid back, come-as-you-are ambiance where it is fun to eat and particularly chilled out for kids. That is not to say that it is filled with screaming little ones running about creating mayhem and havoc. On the contrary, they are all to busy eating one of the numerous meals from the Kid' s Menu.
Value for money is high on the list of most restaurant chains and Logan' s is no exception, indeed, it is one of their most important targets and something they excel at.
Their menu, at first glance is similar to most of their competitors, but there are a few exceptions. It is a Logan' s tradition to have ten meals for under eleven dollars, specially prepared meals containing less than 550 calories and its' steaks flame grilled over mesquite wood to give it a unique flavour. The usual suspects are also in evidence, salads, burgers, steaks, baby backed ribs, combos and sea food offerings. There is a full service bar and the staff were helpful, courteous and efficient.
I have eaten in most of the local restaurants and I would be pushed to remember a bad meal but I particularly enjoyed dining at Logan' s Roadhouse, as much for the delicious food as the relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended after a fun night at Kissimmee Old Town.
