Manny's Chophouse revisited
Just last week we decided it for time for another trip to Manny’s Chophouse on the US 27. It is about a 15 minute drive from our house so not too far to travel. We decided to go around 7:30 pm on a Wednesday night. Big mistake! Wednesday night is buy one Fajita get one free deal, so the place was packed to the door with people spilling outside and with up to a 45 minute waiting time. We were ravenous so decided to go elsewhere and try again the next night. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening are very very busy because of special dining offers. Monday and Tuesday is kids eat free so you can imagine how busy it is then.
Manny’s is simple but tasty home cooked food, with a Southern feel, although the owners are apparently Greek! The service can be hit and miss, this time is was slightly miss as the waitress left us sitting for a while before coming to take our order and then got it slightly wrong* and we had to wait until it was redone. However, the food is really tasty and you can sort of put up with the sloppy service sometimes. I believe this is due to just how busy it gets and the staff are literally run off their feet!
We arrived back on the Thursday night and had a 20 minute wait but we sat at the bar and had a cocktail and were entertained with the barman doing magic tricks…amusing!
The house salad and rolls with Cinnamon butter arrived and were duly demolished. The salad is on of the tastiest I have ever had. The other half agrees and he thinks salad has no taste usually!
We then ordered our usual fayre of French onion soup which is absolutely delicious and Filet Mignon with blue cheese cooked medium. *The steaks arrived without the blue cheese so we had to send it back and to be honest the steaks were more rare than medium so be sure to tell them exactly what you want. We can do rare but prefer Medium by US standards. The menu explains the various cooking temperatures and they do about 6 or so I believe. No room for dessert this time, or infact anytime!
Although the service was a little disappointing this time, we would still return for a meal as this was the first time we had experienced any problems in 4 visits and it is such good value for money.
