Florida Guide > Days Out
So, we have now explored Ripleys guided tours of that lovely Florida city called St Augustine, so now let us look at Old Town Trolley Tours.
This tour company started with a converted bread truck and trailer. Well I am pleased to say that they have come on since those days and their bright trolleys run round this and other cities all day long.
All their trolley tours include free entry into a museum and just like Ripleys tours, the ticket does not expire for 3 days.
You are very likely to find a pick up point near where you are staying so check that out before you leave,
They have packaged some tours together and I am going to run through some of them.
Number one package includes the Oldest Store Museum, The Old Jail and The History Museum and this costs $35 for and adult and $18 for a child.
The Fount of Youth tour includes The Old Jail, The Oldest Store, The Museum, The Fountain of Youth and The Oldest Wooden School House. This would be a really good choice if you have the time.
Next to tell you about is The Colonial package that takes in The Lightner Museum.
Then there is the Ghosts and Graveyards Tour. This includes The Oldest Tour, The History Museum, The Old Jail and a Ghosts and Gravestones night time tour.
The one that may interest real history buffs is The Grand Tour Package that includes everything that St Augustine has to offer and would fully occupy you for 3 full days. This costs $101. 50.
So which of the 2 companies would I use? Well, I have a slight preference for the Ripley' s way of doing business but the Old Town Trolley Tours have better options.
I suppose that my view has been coloured by the fact that our Old Town tour was narrated by a chap with such a heavy accent that we did not understand a word. The Ripleys tour guide was crystal clear.
So really, look at their websites and choose the one that suits you best. And my top tip is that in the summer months you are well advised to take your tours as early in the morning as possible to avoid the hottest part of the day.
