Ultimate Roller Coasters
Our kids have spent many holidays in Florida so I guess it’s not a great surprise to us that they’re theme park junkies and for them the ultimate thrill is to be found on the many roller coasters on offer. Many people think that the ultimate roller coaster must be the newest or the one that goes the highest or the fastest but this isn’t the case, the true aficionado will tell you that there are many elements that make up a truly awesome roller coaster.
Whether you hanker after trying one of the clanky wooden coasters or you prefer the sleek ultra smooth steel coasters something they both need to have in common is a great theme, the queue area must also be entertaining – because lets face it you spend far longer in the queue than riding the coaster! Then there must be an element of surprise, as well as a healthy dose of fear! The ride should last long enough that you feel the wait time was worthwhile but should also leave you wanting more.
Central Florida has a fantastic choice and each one will offer the rider a completely different experience whilst also combining all the essential ingredients for a truly exhilarating ride!
SeaWorld has the amazing Kracken which is the tallest and longest coaster in the area, if you can manage to keep your eyes open the view from the top is truly breathtaking!
Then moving onto Walt Disney World, Hollywood Studios is home to Rock n Roller coaster, this is one of our all time favourites and no trip to Florida would be complete without at least one ride.
Animal Kingdom is home to Disney’s newest coaster, Expedition Everest – plenty of brilliant detail in the queue area as well as on the ride and more than a few surprises!
Universal’s Islands of Adventure has the awesome Hulk – probably the ultimate scream machine and will also soon be home to a couple of Dragon’s in Harry Potter World. Moving over to Universal Studios and the Revenge of the Mummy, again this ride as well as being fast has some excellent surprise elements, I don’t want to spoil the fun by revealing too much!
If you still have some energy then drive on over to Busch Gardens at Tampa Bay where you will find a great wooden coaster called Gwazi as well as 4 steel coasters Kumba, Montu, Python and Scorpion.
