A Holiday in Orlando
A holiday in Orlando is not just about the theme parks, but they are great! The whole atmosphere of excitement that you see in the faces of the children about to meet Mickey Mouse for the very first time is unbelievable. The whole thing is just so spectacular and so well done down to the very last detail that adults are always amazed too. Many of the rides are geared up for adults and not children so there is fun for everyone. Of course the water parks. Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, in the Disney complex are a real treat on a hot humid day. There are other water parks now at Sea World and on its own Wet’n’Wild which is the biggest.
The choice of evening entertainment in the parks, are varied and many. Theme dining, in the better restaurants of the parks, amazing fireworks displays, particularly at Epcot, laser shows and seasonal shows for Halloween, Easter and Christmas. Of course through the summer months and during the seasonal holidays, the rides are open right up until midnight. However, Universal Studios and Disney world both have grown up entertainment in the form of nightclubs. If you would like to see a movie at the state of the art cinema complexes, Universal and Disney both have multi screen cinemas.
If you wish to leave the parks there are many miniature golf courses all over Orlando and many themed dining experiences which show twice nightly.
I love the casual way the Floridians have of never dressing up for anything; this makes for such a relaxing holiday, knowing if you want to dive into a restaurant on the way home from some where, you do not have to worry that you have not dressed up for it. It is exactly this casualness that makes them such a friendly, laid back people. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them and they are always interested in you and where you come from. However if you do like dressing up in the evening, there are plenty of more high class restaurants, but they don’t come cheap, so be prepared for a hefty bill.
Apart from parks in the daytime, there are so many other things to do from horse riding, golf, walking, cycling, ballooning, helicopter riding to water sports such as surfing, swimming, water skiing, fishing and air-boat riding. All these, and many more I probably have not even discovered yet.
