Celebrate your birthday at Disney World – free in 2009!
A birthday is always special but one whilst visiting Disney World can have some of that special Disney magic!
Firstly Disney gives free admission to the one celebrating the birthday. Before you plan your day at one of the Disney parks register with them that it’s your birthday. You will need to print the confirmation message you receive after registering your birthday. About two weeks before your birthday you will be sent an email reminder – you can also use this to redeem your free admission.
Disney will ask you to bring proper ID with your confirmation message along to the park on the actual day. If you are a Passholder, Disney still has something for you. Just go to the ‘Will Call’ window where you can choose from one of their birthday gifts.
In addition to this, when you enter the park visit Guest Services where you can collect a free badge/button - wearing this you’ll be sure to get an extra special welcome from the Disney Cast members.
If you’re visiting Orlando with a group of family and/or friends and want to hold a birthday party for a young one, Disney can organise this at Goofy’s Candy Company in Downtown Disney. There are two choices of party – Goofy’s Scien-Terrific Birthday Bash or the Perfectly Princess Party. These parties don’t come cheaply but this is a birthday party a young one will remember for a very long time! They are an hour and a half long and guests must be 3 or over.
As part of the package Disney provide invitations … and thank you notes. The party is held in a private decorated party room of balloons. Games such as Goof’s Liquorice Limbo, Put the Cherry on the Sundae, Under the Sea Limbo or Put the Gem on the Crown are played. (Wonderful names in the great Disney imaginative tradition! ) There is party food included and guests can Create A Treat from apples, krispie treats, pretzels, marshmallows or even using an oversized deluxe cupcake. Guests depart with an exclusive 5x7 photo of Goofy or Cinderella. So if you are interested call 407-WDW-DINE to find out more.
Alternatively the Polynesian Resort holds Neverland Club Birthday party lasting two hours with tradition kiddies food such as pizza, chicken tenders, a birthday cake and a choice of video or video games to play. There is a premium package which lasts a little longer and includes a Disney character attending the party. How cool is that! The premium package costs $70 per person.
If you’re too mature for Goofy’s Scien-Terrific Birthday Bash or to be a Perfect Princess, consider the Birthday Fireworks Cruise. These can be booked for either Epcot’s Illuminations or the Magic Kingdom’s Wishes fireworks.
But even if you aren’t planning to have a birthday party, six inch cakes can be organised at most Disney restaurants. These cost $21 (plus tax) and no advance notice is required - unless you’d like it personalised – then you need to give 48 hours notice and phone 407 827 2253.
So if you’re celebrating a birthday, have a great one and hope you feel that bit special on your day!
