Celebrate with Disney in 2009
My Mother is really excited as everyone who visits a Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort theme park on their birthday in 2009 can get a free ticket to a Park of their choice. She and my Father are going in 2009 and will be there for her birthday. Her current dilemma is which Park to choose for her free day, she changes her mind daily!
Disney have done a lot of research and realised that families, particularly American ones, are visiting their Theme Parks to celebrate special occasions – birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, reunions, and rather than have an annual holiday have more of a “celebration holiday”. Other reasons guests visit Disney are - a first vacation with children, a job promotion or recovery from an illness.
Disney are introducing a first-ever opportunity for guests to receive a free ticket to one of the Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme parks on their birthday in 2009.
Disney’s thinking is that birthdays are the one occasion that we all share every year and that a free birthday ticket “would be the icing on the cake” towards helping guests celebrate their “birthday holidays. ”
To get your free ticket you simply call, on the day of your birthday, at the “Will Call” windows before you enter the park. You will need to produce valid photo ID with proof of your date of birth, your passport would be fine. Along with your free ticket you will get a big birthday badge to wear. Be sure to put this on as you will be treated as a very special person by the Cast Members (and even some guests) for the rest of the day. As you pass they will all call out greetings of “Happy Birthday. ” I believe some guests have even received free ice-cream and desserts.
If you are a guest from the USA or Canada you can register online.
If you are an annual pass holder or multiday ticket holder, you can choose from other gifts instead:
- A birthday fun card in an amount equal to the price of a 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket for you to use on your birthday for merchandise, recreation or fun activities at select participating locations at Walt Disney World® Resort OR
- A special birthday Fastpass badge+ for certain attractions at the Theme Park you visit on your birthday; OR
- A 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket for you to use any time until your next birthday.
My Parents do have multi day tickets so I think they may look at the alternative of the Birthday fun card.
If you wish to collect your ticket in the seven days prior to your birthday again go to the ' Will Call' windows at any of the four theme parks to pick up your free birthday ticket which will only be valid on your birthday. However, other Birthday benefits such as a Special Birthday Fastpass or a Birthday Fun Card must be picked up on the actual date of your birthday to receive the benefit.
Once my Mother has decided which Park they are visiting my Father is going to book a meal at one of the restaurants and contact the Disney advance planners to order a birthday cake and flowers with their meal, sounds like a great day.
