We visited Gaylord Palms recently (December 07) it is a beautiful hotel and conference centre to visit. There is a large atrium with a walk way winding its way around the entire hotel. As you walk around the walk way you can see small alligators in the water and they have set times when they are fed and you can watch the warden feed them.
There is an excellent spa for you to have a relaxing massage again not cheap but I am told it is very good.
Whilst we were there in December around the atrium there was a live show with seating around so you could just have a drink and watch.
They also have an Ice show called ICE which is carved sculptures carved into different scenes this is excellent but is only shown around Christmas time but well worth a visit if you are around at that time
There are many restaurants there of various types on this occasion we visited the Villa de Flora, on any given day the menu changes with a different country themed on the night we were there it was a Greek theme. There were 6 different stations offering different things . The first table had a good choice of salads plus cheeses, 4 different types of breads. Houmous, various olives, fruits, the strawberries were excellent.
On the next station there was soups various seafood’s, mussels clams ect. . There was also a chief on duty to cook you omelettes with fillings of your choice.
There was 2 kinds of roast meats on the night we were there it was Lamb and prime rib there was also other meats in casserole type dishes I tried the lamb stew which was particularly good.
The other station is a dessert station and it had wonderful desserts tiramisu, bread pudding, cookies, Haagen Diaz ice cream. Plus coffee.
There is also other restaurants we have tried the Hickory steak house which was very good indeed. The restaurant is not cheap but the quality of food and the service are excellent and I would have no hesitation in recommending it.
When we were there last I had the New York strip and it just melted in your mouth. They do other dishes other than steak my husband had the pork chops and he said they were very good. They also do cheese from around the world and am told they change them often.
The desert selection is also a mouth watering extravaganza my favourite is the grand Marnier soufflé
There is also a fish restaurant but we have never tried that but it always seems busy when we have been past .
The H2O sports bar sells sandwiches and is more casual there are TV around the restaurant so sports fans can watch TV whilst they are eating.
