THE OLIVE GARDEN
If you have never been to the Olive Garden restaurant it is certainly one to put on your list to try. There are several around, there is one on International Drive opposite the Mercado , several along on the US192 and another on Sand Lake road.
The atmosphere is lovely and it is a very well planned out dinning experience, everywhere is beautifully clean the staff are friendly and helpful with nothing being too much trouble.
Then there is the Menu… the choice is incredible and even if you are not a big fan of Italian food ( which my husband is not, he decided on the 18oz T-bone steak !! ) there is still plenty of things to chose from.
When you arrive there is a nice little bar to have a chat and a drink while you are waiting. I decided on my usual Florida favourite a Pina Colada There is usually a wait it has to be said, as it is such a popular place. The car park is always brimming over and the place is always packed to capacity. But the wait is well worth it and the time flies while you chat and have a drink. You can of course always be having a look at the menu while you wait.
We started by having the salad and bread sticks, the salad was beautiful in a large bowl that was replaced with yet another when it was empty, with the typical Italian dressing it tasted fabulous and the bread sticks were warm and served with a cheesy garlic dip . I had not intended to have more than one as I didn’t want to spoil my main course but as they were so good could not resist a second one.
For the main course I chose a Tuscan chicken dish ( I could never have managed an 18oz T-bone if my life depended on it.
The Tuscan chicken was absolutely delicious on a bed of pasta with a gorgeous sauce, certainly one I would order again on another visit. It’s nice to try different things each time you go but hard when you know what you had before was so good.
The meal was a bit more than the average buffets style meals in Orlando but well worth the price and excellent value for money. Like everything else in this world you get what you pay for.
I for one will certainly be going back when we next visit and the Olive Garden will be one of my all time favourites.
