Savvy Discounts for Seniors
Discounts for Silver (Senior) Citizens!
Ladies and gentlemen, I know we don’t usually like to disclose our age, but in Florida, if you are over the age of 55 and some places 50, you are entitled to a Silver Discount. Every little helps I say and so be brave celebrate your years of wisdom. Unlike the UK, they are not going to ask you to take out your bus pass to prove it, so sometimes it is just yours for the asking. Let’s face it – to the 18 year old on the till anyone over 40 could be a senior to them!
It’s quite amazing how many places offer a discount. You can get discounts from Restaurants, Retail and Clothing Stores, Grocery Stores, Hotels, Entertainment, Cell Phone Providers ... the list goes on.
So how do you go about claiming your discount – well first you may need to do a little research on the stores near where you will be visiting. They don’t all offer discounts every day. For some it’s only on a specific day. Also don’t assume they will automatically apply the discount – you may need to ask. You could look up Senior Discounts on Google. Here are a few to get you interested:
Restaurants
Applebee’s: 15% off with Golden Apple Card (60+)
Arby’s 10% off (55+). Varies by location, please call your local Arby’s.
Ben & Jerry’s: 10% off (60+)
Bennigan’s: discount varies by location
Burger King: 10% off or a $. 75 drink (60+). (varies by location)
Chick-Fil-A: 10% off or free small drink or coffee (55+) (varies by location)
Chili’s: 10% off (55+)
CiCi’s Pizza: 10% off (60+)
Dairy Queen: 10% off (60+), varies by location
Denny’s: 10% off, 20% off for AARP members (55+)
Dunkin’ Donuts: 10% off or free coffee (55+)
Golden Corral: 10% off (60+)
IHOP: 10% off (55+)
Krispy Kreme: 10% off (50+)
Retail & Clothing
Banana Republic: 10% off (50+)
Bealls: 15% off every Tuesday (50+)
Bed Bath and Beyond: 10% off mailing club (55+)
Belk: 15% off first Tuesday of every month (55+)
Dress Barn: 10% off (55+) (varies by location)
Kohl’s: 15% off (60+) on Wednesdays
Ross Stores: 10% off every Tuesday (55+)
TJ Maxx: 10% on Tuesdays, varies by location.

Best Western: 10% off (55+)
Cambria Suites: 20%-30% off (60+)
Clarion: 20%-30% off (60+)
Comfort Inn & Suites: 20%-30% off (60+)
Econo Lodge: 20%-30% off (60+)
Greyhound: 5% off (62+)
Hampton Inns & Suites: 10% off when booked 72 hours in advance
Hilton Hotels: AARP members are eligible for a 5% senior discount at Hilton properties worldwide.
Holiday Inn: 10%-30% off depending on location (62+)
Hyatt Hotels: 25%-50% off (62+)
InterContinental Hotels Group: various discounts at all hotels (65+)
Mainstay Suites: 10% off with Mature Traveler’s Discount (50+); 20%-30% off (60+)
Marriott Hotels: 15% off (62+)
Motel 6: 10% off (60+)
Myrtle Beach Resort: 10% off (55+)
National Rent-A-Car: up to 30% off for AARP members
Quality Inn: 20%-30% off (60+)
Rodeway Inn: 20%-30% off (60+)
