The Trolley Tours at St Augustine: Ripleys.
If you ever make a side trip to St Augustine (and you should. . . it is great) then you will want to know the best way to get around this historical city.
As you know, St Augustine is where Ponce De Leon is thought to have landed in his quest for the Fountain of Youth and it is America' s oldest seaside town.
One of the best ways to see what this lovely city has to offer is to take one of the rival guided tours and here I am going to tell you about the one organised by Ripley; yes indeed, the same Ripley as the Believe it or not museums.
This is a fully narrated tour that has 3 starting points and takes you to 20 points of interest. The tour lasts one and a half hours and is fully narrated.
You do not have to take the tour all in one go as your ticket is valid for 3 days. And here I must confess that we did do everything in one day and since it was really hot we were on our knees at the end of the day.
Included in your ticket price is free parking, free shuttle from your hotel, free shuttle to the alligator farm and lighthouse and free mini golf.
They also have some money saving packages that may interest you.
First there is a tour and museum duo that includes the narrated tour as detailed above plus a visit to Ripleys Believe It Or Not Musuem. This costs $29. 99 for an adult and $14. 51 per child.
Next option is the guided tour plus a Ghost Tour which includes a spooky visit to Castle Warden.
Finally, there is a trio option which combines the tour with the museum with the Ghost Tour. This costs $49. 09 for adults and $23. 51 for children.
The tour runs from 8. 30 a. m. to 5 p. m. and among the 20 stops are Thee Old Sugar Mill, The Old Jail, The Fountain of Youth and The Oldest House.
The most worth visiting( in my opinion) are The Old Schoolhouse, The Fountain of Youth and The Old Jail. The Old Jail will shock you with it' s treatment of prisoners only jus tover a century ago. They needed their own Howard for sure.
