Visiting Puerto Vallarta - Part 35
My top 10 Restaurants in Puerto Vallarta continued
You will find them at 4 Isla Río Cuale in Centro. The food is fantastic food with lots of options. River Café is known for its dinner menu, but it also has a vegetarian menu and a gluten-free menu. Service is good and the staff are very attentive to your needs. It is located on the Río Cuale Island with great views of the river and all the flora of the island. During the day you can see many iguanas basking in the sun along the river bed and in the trees. It provides a great ambience in a tropical setting next to the river and among the trees, especially as it offers candlelit dinners with live music.
Café de Artistes
You will find them at 740 Guadalupe Sanchez in Centro. The Café de Artistes was ranked number three in TripAdvisor’s top 10 list of the “Best Fine Dining Restaurants in Mexico – 2015 “. The ranking seems to indicate that this French and International restaurant is a hit with visitors; however, while it is good I would not have even put it at number three in Puerto Vallarta. The service is good and the waiters speak English well, and they are very helpful with the menu. The entire staff is very friendly and attentive. The patio gardens are beautifully done and decorated with very unique pieces of art and vibrant colours. You can spend your whole meal just enjoying the different art pieces. The inside of the restaurant is very romantic and with a great ambience, especially near the piano bar. The patio is completely different and has a more bohemian feel to it.
Hacienda San Angel Gourmet
You will find them at 336 Calle Miramar in Centro. The food is very good and there are plenty of menu options which allow for a well-balanced choice. One of the favourites here is the red snapper which is only on the dinner menu or on their Sunday brunch which is at their other location across the street. The service is very good and the waiters are friendly. The views are really spectacular here with panoramas over Hacienda San Angel, Gringo Gulch and Banderas Bay. Hacienda San Angel has a lot of history. The late Richard Burton purchased the Hacienda’s main villa, Casa Bur-Sus, as a Valentine’s Day gift for his wife, Susan in 1977. In 1990 it was purchased by Janice Chatterton, who over the years has purchased and renovated several additional neighbouring villas, creating a single property which is connected by interior courtyards filled with bubbling fountains, pools, beautiful bougainvilleas and spectacular sculptural details. This decoration style is carried on throughout the property, including the restaurant, making it a truly special place to go.
